Diabetes and Hair Loss

Let’s discuss the relationship between diabetes, or diabetes mellitus, and hair loss based on an article. Diabetes is one of the most important diseases of our time. It is highly significant due to its high mortality rate and its association with other diseases such as blindness, kidney failure, and gangrene. There is a relationship between vascular constriction and hair loss in diabetes.

Especially in diabetics with vascular constriction, the blood vessels under the skin also narrow. Therefore, supplying oxygen to tissues becomes insufficient. This leads to the deprivation of root cells from oxygen and their subsequent death, resulting in hair loss. Not only our hair but also other body hairs experience shedding, such as those on our legs. The aim here is that if there is hair loss on both the scalp and legs, it is imperative to investigate for diabetes. It could indicate latent diabetes.
